Rohit Sharma will be the captain of the Indian cricket team and Hardik Pandya will be the vice-captain in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in West Indies and USA in June 2024. This was confirmed by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jai Shah himself during a discussion with the media at an event organized in Rajkot.
Rohit Sharma will captain India for the second time in the T20 World Cup. Sharma was the captain of India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and India had to face defeat at the hands of England in the semi-finals.
Rohit Sharma did not play a single T20 International match in the year 2023. However, he made a comeback in early 2024, and captained India in a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.
After making a comeback in the T20I format against Afghanistan, Rohit could not even open his account in the first two matches but in the last match he played a record inning of 121 not out, which was Rohit's fifth century in T20 International.
